WANDERERS owner Eddie Davies appears ready to resist calls for the removal of under-pressure manager Dougie Freedman and chairman Phil Gartside.

Large scale fan protests demanding change were mounted during Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Derby County.

Davies was in attendance and remained at the Macron Stadium late into the evening with Gartside and vice chairman Brett Warbuton.

But the club is preparing to go about its business as usual yesterday as they send out notification to the press that Freedman would be taking his regular media conference prior to the game against Fulham on Wednesday night.

The Bolton News has contacted Gartside and the club for clarification on the matter but have received no official reply.

Freedman anticipated being in the dugout at Craven Cottage, while simultaneously admitting his performance to date had not been good enough.

“I expect to be in charge when we go to Fulham,” he told The Bolton News.

“I am a forward thinking guy, I always want to be one step ahead.

“I understand I am in charge and have responsibility of a wonderful football club and I’m proud to be in charge of it. Right now we’re getting it wrong.

“That doesn’t mean I’m going to have a lie down; it just makes me more determined.”

Freedman added that he does not “fear the sack” but that he takes the blame for the club slipping back into the relegation zone with a record of just one win in nine games.

“It’s proven to be a harder job than I first thought when I walked in,” he said.

“We have changed a lot off the field but it’s proved to be very difficult to do that on the field.

“I’ve always thought that if you work hard, things will come to you. We’re not getting results and I fully take the blame.”

what's it going to take to make them sit up and take notice? If we lose midweek at Fulham the atmosphere next Saturday will be toxic.

I would have thought that the atmosphere will be toxic at the Fulham game TBH.

The club must know something we don't. they cant be arsed about league 1 as we are in a real relegation dogfight now and this attitude they have is like they really don't care.

If Eddie really was there, and then this 'statement' comes out - I would demand to know exactly what the plan is, as it seems ridiculous to me.

Then it will be seen that he's turned the corner, he'll stay.

It's still early days and a couple of wins will see is climb the league, I wouldn't say we are in a relagation dog fight just yet...but things at the moment are certainly looking bleak.

Didn't I say it would be a Vote of Confidence?

Basically a 2 game warning (although if we lose at Fulham I can't see Eddie or Phil wanting the toxic atmosphere at next home game!)

I'm bringing the banner and it will be produced as Bournmouth score there first goal.
Worst football I can remember.Worse than the 80's.At least we won occasionally at our worst.
A joke a laughing stock.

Freedman blames it on Derby being to good for this division. They started 9 th yesterday DICK!

Every team play, Freedman has the same response, they are a good team, they will be up there come the end of the season, of course they will you prick, not difficult to finish 20th in this league.

I wish I could say any of this surprises me. I can't. It's clear that Eddie is becoming less and less interested in the football side of Moonshift/Burnden Leisure.

Dougie is contracted to the end of the season. I expect him to see that out at least and if we stay up I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get a new deal. No matter how toxic the atmosphere gets I think nothing will change, after all Eddie can simply retreat to the Isle of Man and wait out the storm there if he feels uncomfortable here.
