I'm going and I'm taking my lad and a couple of his mates. It's a decent draw for us and hopefully we should get a decent turn-out. Malky has only won one game since he took over at Wigan so I'm hoping for a decent victory followed by a decent draw in the next round.

You can't hope for a loss but I think we would be better off out of it.  Got to concentrate on our league position IMO.  All we need is some more injuries from this waste of time.  Depending on team selection we should win it ....and a home draw against Utd etc would be grand fun and make us some money to boot.  Worst result is a draw. No replays.

Ref watch: Dowd takes the whistle

Phil Dowd will take charge of Wanderers' FA Cup third round tie with Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

An experienced referee, Dowd has been officiating in the professional game for 17 seasons.

Overseeing 15 games so far during the current campaign, most of which have been Premier League matches, the Staffordshire based referee has brandished 65 yellow and four red cards during that time.

Dowd last officiated a Bolton game back in October 2012 when the Whites drew 2-2 with Leeds United at Macron Stadium.

Andrew Halliday and Duncan Street will run the line, while Robert Jones is the fourth official.

Its a good draw a shame the FA cup is not respected any more, but i will see it live. Hard to call without knowing the team selection but they will miss Mcmanaman.

We should put a bid in for Mcmanaman, he's wasted at Wigan.

I'm looking forwards to knocking Wigan out.

The Daily Mail have got as equally carried away as GMR

The FA Cup third round tends to throw up lots of questions and the chief among them this season has to be: 'Where the hell have Bolton been hiding Zach Clough?'

Teenager Clough marked his first appearance of any sort at senior level with a virtuoso display behind Bolton's front men, capping it with the composed finish 14 minutes from time that ousted local rivals Wigan, semi-finalists in each of the past two seasons.

We did well first half and created some decent chances which was good considering we were missing chungy. Wigan were none existent first half but came out second half and had a real go. Boggers made a couple of classy saves. One he saved from a point blank header was top drawer, I thought it was flying in. There was one that looped up into the air and he stepped back and I was bang in line with the goal line and I'm pretty sure it crossed the line but fuck it we deserve some luck. The real plus today was young Zach Clough. The lad was immense. I can't remember seeing a better debut and all the better because he's from the academy. He ran the game today. He's pretty strong for a small lad, has an eye for a pass and his finish was top class. He's perfect for the number 10 role. Could have gone either way at one point but we definitely deserved the win over the 90.

Agree with all the above, with better finishing we could have been out of sight by half time, to be fair All Habsi made a couple of excellent saves. 2nd half was a little more even but even so should have scored a couple, Wigan only tested Boggers a couple of times but he pulled off two great saves. Anyone get a view on if Bogdan took the ball over the line?

As I said I was bang in line and I definitely thought it was over. A few around me thought the same. I was sure the linesman was going to flag. Boggers got lucky there I think.

Clough was an absolute breath of fresh air.
I'd be impressed by a debut like that from a multimillion pound signing, let alone a product of the youth academy that continually disappoints.
I don't think anybody was expecting it, baring in mind Connor Wilkinson who's the same age has had more opportunities.

It was an excellent match by the way. It was nearly a 0-0 but could easily have been a 4-3.

How did your 5 year old enjoy his first match y2j? My 7 year old spent the last 35 minutes playing on my phone. The full 90 was a bit much for him. Didn't help that he had to stand on his seat for the first 55 minutes to try and see the game. Oh well, I tried.
