The odds do seem stacked against it working - the age difference (and life experiences) are so great.

However I watched a quite fascinating programme a few months back on James Randi (a magician) and his 'husband' Jose Alvarez, who is 33 years younger and it is clear that they do love each other and stayed together for many years now - recently getting 'married' (or whatever the legal term is in the USA).

No doubt Fry is totally infatuated with his young swain but you do tend to wonder (or at least I do) what the 'attraction' is the other way?

I somehow think Mrs Merton may well have the answer.
