I'd challenge that's it's caring to say women must cover their head or worse face, that homosexuality is a sin and the punishment for leaving the faith is death.

Again I can't test every Muslims opinions on these teachings but I've seen many skirt the issues in televised debates. So they obviously don't have certainty.

And again these teachings, are commanded by God and his last and true prophet so I don't understand any Muslim who would put that to one side and still consider themselves religious.

There's nothing sarcastic in saying the final element of these faiths is apocalypse. That's the truth.

Assuming that's the thing you meant. Hard not to throw some sarc in when discussing such utter rubbish though so....

Yet there are Muslims who challenge those views and believe in modernising the faith, those people are moderates.

I think you're views on this are too black and white.

Great, I wish them luck. So far, not much success.

My views are pretty nuanced to be fair but I can't abide this stuff I'm afraid. I'm sick of people dying every day for this utter crap.

Man brazenly parading ISIS flag outside Big Ben is stopped by police... but then allowed to walk free as they rule he ISN'T breaking the law

Be careful about wishing for changes to the law that could see people arrested for flying flags.

That way trouble lies.

Do we really want an English version of the Patriot Act over here?

I don't.

You can't arrest somebody for showing something we don't like, welcome to a 'free' society. Hopefully he's got half of MI5 watching his every move now, putting a toddler on his shoulders is a cowardly move. These people really are fucking idiots.

He should have been arrested under the public order act for behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Allowing him to go about his business unchallenged is a cop-out and a gross insult to anybody whose has lost loved ones at the hands of these barbaric cave dwellers.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Public Order Act - Section 5

(1)A person is guilty of an offence if he—

(a)uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, or

(b)displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting,

within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby.

(2)An offence under this section may be committed in a public or a private place, except that no offence is committed where the words or behaviour are used, or the writing, sign or other visible representation is displayed, by a person inside a dwelling and the other person is also inside that or another dwelling.

(3)It is a defence for the accused to prove—

(a)that he had no reason to believe that there was any person within hearing or sight who was likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress, or

(b)that he was inside a dwelling and had no reason to believe that the words or behaviour used, or the writing, sign or other visible representation displayed, would be heard or seen by a person outside that or any other dwelling, or

(c)that his conduct was reasonable.

(4)A constable may arrest a person without warrant if—

(a)he engages in offensive conduct which [F1a] constable warns him to stop, and

(b)he engages in further offensive conduct immediately or shortly after the warning.

(5)In subsection (4) “offensive conduct” means conduct the constable reasonably suspects to constitute an offence under this section, and the conduct mentioned in paragraph (a) and the further conduct need not be of the same nature.

(6)A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.

Hope the officer is getting fucked over it, as it is clearly not acceptable!

What really gets up my goat ( no pun intended ) is that it is because of incidents such as this, that the legislation was introduced. If I were to go and stand outside a Mosque with a placard which read ' Burn the Koran ' you can bet your bottom Euro that my collar would have been felt pretty quickly for inciting hatred so how is the flag bearer any different?

Oh but you can. The public order act covers any act 'likely' to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person. Brandishing a flag of an internationally condemned terrorist organisation in a public place adequately covers that remit. Anyone who thinks otherwise must have rocks in their head.

Maybe you're right, I certainly wasn't aware of how the law could be applied so clearly the police officer and I have rocks for brains.
