Neil Lennon is “running out of patience” with Wanderers’ inability to sign players in the January window.
After a few near misses – including losing out on Chelsea’s teenage ace Lewis Baker to Sheffield Wednesday – the Whites boss has made a plea for fresh blood before his tiring team travel to Hillsborough this weekend.
Young starlet Zach Clough became the latest name to join the injured list, missing out on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United with a hamstring injury which could sideline him for three weeks.
And Lennon feels the good work he and his staff has achieved since coming to the club in October could be put in jeopardy unless he can add some attacking players to his squad in the next few days.
“I’m running out of patience,” he told The Bolton News. “This week I want some players in.
“I have to start pushing now because we are very, very short.”
Medo Kamara is on the verge of completing a loan move to Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, clearing more room in the budget for signings.
Chung-Yong Lee – who is currently away on international duty at the Asia Cup – is also subject to strong interest from Premier League Crystal Palace.
But in adding to his squad, Lennon is annoyed that he has drawn a blank in the last seven days.
“We’ve had a frustrating week,” he said. “Medo has gone away to Israel to finalise a loan deal, so we’re waiting for confirmation on that.
“We’ve been working away to no avail no far but we need to get some players in.”
Medo played 51 times for the Whites since moving from FK Partizan in January 2013 but failed to start a single game since Lennon’s arrival.
“It has probably been through no fault of his own, the likes of Pratley, Danns, Trotter and Vela came to the fore,” said the manager, explaining the 27-year-old’s departure.
“I inherited a squad with four or five defensive midfield players and I didn’t feel we needed all that. Medo felt the brunt of it, unfortunately for him.
“So he’s got an opportunity to go and play football at a very high level.”
Medo’s loan move to Haifa can be made permanent in the summer, although the Sierra Leone midfielder does have 12 months remaining on his current contract with Bolton.
