Are You A Ponce?

A recent survey by YouGov suggests that nearly two thirds of us would walk by if we stumbled upon a man getting beaten up by two baddies.

The same survey says that only about 15% of us would walk by if a woman was getting beaten up by two baddies.

What does this say about us? Are we all, when push comes to shove, soft bastards that would rather walk past a fellow human being in trouble rather than try and help?

Have you ever been in this situation? What happened? And if it happened tomorrow what would you do?

If I stumbled upon someone getting beaten up I would shout something like "...I'm ringing the cops" and then leg it. I probably wouldn't ring the cops but it would probably scare them.

But they're bound to say 'yeah' aren't they. Seeing as you used to be a marine you should step in regardless of what they say.

Not really, we live in a selfish world now a days, he probably deserved it.

i'd like to think i would step up and help but when it came down to it, who knows? If it was a woman being attacked i would be more inclined i hope

no just hate men beating up women, but the reward of sex makes it worth thinking about

Probably as odd as it seems the best thing to do is shout 'FIRE'.

You certainly don't put yourself in any danger, so you don't intervene BUT you want immeadiate action to stop what is happening before it gets any worse and by the time the police arrive, that can be to late.

People often don't respond to cries for 'help' but will to those of 'fire'.

Once people start appearing on the scene those fighting tend to quickly leave the area.


The same goes if you if you are the victim, or feel in imminent danger.

Worthwhile remembering this - it may be of some help one day.

Ive heard that before. Luckily never had to use it.
