The FA have upheld the sending off of Vincent Kompany for his red card against United.

Having seen the replay numerous times it looks as if he played the ball cleanly and there was no contact with Nani.

Kompany now has to serve a four match ban which I think is rather harsh. Yes, the tackle was two footed but as no contact was made I cannot see why the penalty should be so harsh.

Football is going to the dogs. It was a fair tackle, the ref wouldn't have done anything but for Rooney having a moan.

Oh for the day when men were men!

When I was nineteen I went for a summer job as a farm labourer. Farmer Giles asked me, ' Can you use a fork?' I replied ' Of course, what time is lunch ?'

Later that day I found him in a field straddling a ewe. I said, ' Are you shearing ?' He replied, 'No chance, go and find your own.'
