Admins - feel free to lock and sticky this thread if you feel you want to.

I wrote this article for another forum a while ago and larghat usually links to it in his match threads (on other sites) so I thought id post it here too if that's ok.

for anyone who cant attend matches for whatever reason, does not have sky sports and
wants information on the best way to stream matches...well my fellow
trotters, here it is!

sopcast is the best way to watch Live (or almost live) football on a pc,
if you can plug your laptop/PC in to your TV its just like watching it
on the TV (well, you know what i mean - its like watching a genuine 'sky' broadcast)

so...apologies if the directions below are a little patronising, they
are not meant to be but i understand that some peoples ability on a
computer is limited, so im trying to simplify it.

heres what to do...

First download and install this on your PC…

http://downloads.cnet.co.uk/view/video-software/sopcast-39207546/

DO NOT search for sopcast or download from anywhere else – most other
sites that advertise sop cast software load it with ad-ware, virus’s and
malware – CNET is a reputable site.

Once that’s installed, open sop cast – it will ask you to sign in the
first time, chose ‘sign in as anonymous’ – it will auto sign in every
time you open it from now on. You can register a username and password
if you wish but there is not really much point.

Leave sopcast open (minimize it) and open your browser (sopcast links
seem to work best with Google chrome for some reason) if you want to
install google chrome it can be downloaded for free from here...

https://www.google.com/chrome/?installdataindex=nosearch&hl=en-GB&brand=CHMA&utm_campaign=en-GB&utm_source=en-GB-ha-emea-uk-bk&utm_medium=ha

Next, Navigate to

http://www.footballstreaming.info/streams/todays-links/index.html

here you will find a list of all today's matches and the available streams.

the above is the best and possibly most 'user-friendly' site on the web - again, its also free of any silly ads/pop-ups etc.

Click on a ‘sopcast’ link (they are usually at the top) if there is one
by bloodzeed use this one, his streams are quality! Failing that just
try any sopcast one, there should be a few if its on Sky sports.

Google chrome (or whatever browser you chose to use) will open another
tab that says ‘about.blank’ and also ask if you want to launch an
external application (sopcast) – click ok.

Sopcast should then open up and a screen will show on the right hand
side and, after between 10 seconds and 5 mins you should see the stream –
it will lag/jump for a few mins till your broadband loads enough to run
it flawlessly but will then settle down. It will look like this…

http://screenshots.en.sftcdn.net/en/scrn/42000/42508/sopcast-8.jpg

next, just click on full screen icon at the bottom of the pop out screen…open a beer/wine/soft drink/brew and enjoy!

disclaimer - all advertised streams are not guaranteed and can drop or
be switched off (or cut by the authorities) - best thing to do if this
happens is just look for another link of the football streaming website.

also, installing sopcast and setting everything up first time will take
around 30 mins with a half decent broadband connection, so bear this in
mind - start around 1 hour before the game then your good and ready.

also - sopcast (as with any streaming media - Iplayer, online gaming etc
is VERY heavy on data traffic - beware if you dont have an unlimited
download broadband connection - if its capped it may cost you a bomb!)

cheers

As I have vowed never to set foot in the Reebok until Owen Coyle is removed this is useful info. Ta.

Very useful (unless we get relegated on Sunday then it becomes a bit redundant)

Thanks Rebel.

I tend to use Front Row Sports myself - no need to down load anything.

The adverts can be a bit annoying but as long as you click on the 'grey' x, rather than the 'red' x, on them, you can easily get rid of them without any pop up appearing on your screen.

After Sunday though we may not have to trouble ourselves with any streams unfortunately.

COYWM!

If you have a good internet connection, Sopcast is much much better Sluffy. Try it when you get a chance.

By the way, Championship games are occasionally streamed online too, particularly ones which are shown on Sky, which not everyone has.

I use a Mac so Sopcast isn't an option for me.

When i've used it on windows back in the day it was good though.

I've vowed never to bounce down Bradshawgate on a space hopper while the Pope is a Catholic. I suspect neither of us are going to be actually doing anything differently as a consequence of our vows.

Another good way to look at streams is to view them as a source of food. Take a fishing rod and a few maggots with you and you could end with a nice piece of Tilapia for your tea.

thought id give this thread a 'bump' as the seasons starting on saturday and it may come in handy...

If, due to the league we are in, there are available sopcast streams.

If im honest, I think sopcast would be the best bet as they tend to broadcast a lot of overseas channels - including ones from the US and south Korea - were Holden and Lee respectively are idolised...

More reports on the radio today about the PL cracking down on streams and attempting to jail anyone hosting them.

don't think it's wise to have threads like this tbh.

posting links or even watching them is not illegal - check if you dont believe me.

hosting them is illegal, but watching them is not.

its the same with films and music - downloading them is not 'technically' illegal - its morally dubious, but thats it.

the people 'giving away' the films and music on the other hand are breaking the law...

Apparently someone who "hosted" streams (not posted) has recently been locked up.

I'm not suggesting anyone on here would be locked up i've just never liked threads of this nature.

only an opinion though fire on.
