No question in our minds Freedman = Wanker, Lennon = Saviour

Well looking at the present league table both managers start on level points DF gets a 3 goal advantage, we will have a definitive result at by the end of next season we should see for sure if NL is the real deal and DF is exactly what we thought he was ? The table never lies?

We need to apply a handicap system to make it fair, though.

Forest's squad is (on paper at least) worth a fair few quid more than ours, so Freedman has an unfair advantage.

But then again, his inherent lack of ability as a manager may well be handicap enough, so perhaps the field of play is actually level after all.

Shite man-manager with expensive squad Vs Accomplished motivator with mediocre journeyman players / bunch of kids.

Hmm, interesting.

Game on....

Plus Dougie will start by putting in a system that will take three years to start producing results - that is unless Fawaz? walks away as he is threatening to do.

Games are coming thick and fast ATM - it's only a fortnight until we play Forest.
Love it if we beat them at their ground given the derogatory comments about us some of their fans made when Dougie was recruited.

They're in deep, deep trouble. Full transfer embargo extended for another 12 months, unhappy fans and players and an owner threatening to walk out so we have as good a chance as ever of turning them over.

This 'walking away' lark is interesting. What does he mean by it? He's chairman/owner and therefore he can't just walk away.
If he means that he'll put his shareholding up for sale- does he think that someone will buy a mess like that.
Unless he gives it away- and then he might have to pay someone to take the mess on.
But the Freedman (onanist) v Lennon (Messiah) battle look a good 'un

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

I just hope they don't have the new manager effect. We started ok in our first couple of games under dougie. Coming back from 1-0 down against a good Cardiff side in his first game I think.

I would hate to see the smug look on him if we lose so we better not let him beat us.

I fancy going to that one, as it's only about 30 miles from where I'm staying.

Am I allowed to go after the Rotherham debacle?

For the sake of the club you love do you really think it is a good idea

Under no circumstances should you attend the match, join the Chatbox, listen to the game on the radio or ask a passer-by about the result until way after 5 pm Bread.
I suspected you may be a jinx before the Rotherham game but now I realise that your missus makes you stay in digs at weekends too....

Bredders - I say go. I'm usually violently opposed to violence of any kind, but take a large turnip with you and  try and land it on Freedmans napper!!

Unfortunately, Freedman won't have had enough time to completely confuse the hell out of their entire squad yet so I'm predicting an evenly balanced affair. With any luck though, they'll have been working on his 'one chance on goal per game' philosophy.

One thing is for sure though, he will be setting them up to not lose the game so I'm predicting a tight affair with little movement in the table as a result.

Bore-draw.

No rammy. He means he'll cease to fund the club from his own pocket. He might put his shares up for sale and deliberately take a loss to get out but I don't know if he'll do that yet. He may wait for the result of Forest's expected appeal against the transfer embargo and if they win he might wait for summer, sell what players he can and recoup what cash he can and THEN put the club up for sale.

I'm finally starting to understand this obsession with previous managers.

When Coyle arrived, every error of judgement and bad result was blamed on Megson's legacy and every victory was a justification for getting rid of Megson. Same for Freedman after Coyle and now Lennon after Freedman.

Having listened to all the sanctimonious claptrap about Freedman since Lennon arrived and especially blaming Lennon's poor results on Freedman's tenure (WTF???) it's starting to make sense.

Basically if a new manager comes in, fans are desperate for him to lead us to the promised land and if he gets a few results he's the Messiah - regardless of where the club is at. In order for him to assume Messiah status, the previous manager has to be demonised for comparison purposes. By elevating new managers to superhuman status in this way, fans don't have to deal with the realities of other clubs being better off than us in terms of both player talent and having the finances to continuously improve.
So when we play a better team than us like Derby, we hope (rather than expect) to win and our hopes are fed by this blind faith in our manager's abilities. If we do well that faith is justified and everything written about how great the new guy is (and the only reason we lost before was because our previous manager was a tosspot)And when we get stuffed we can console ourselves with the "underdog card" - and blame the previous manager (even though we got a hard-earned away draw against high flying Derby in this same fixture last year under Dougie)

That way we can maintain the illusion and not have to accept that our current manager is in any way fallible.

Hopefully Lennon will man up and acknowledge his mistakes instead of making excuses. At least then we'll know he's tackling the problems.

But comparisons with previous managers remain relatively pointless IMO as we will never know for sure whether we'd be better off or not. Still it seems to be a useful tool for some fans.
Personally I just hope Lennon does the right thing by us.
