Saidy Janko was delighted to mark his Bolton Wanderers debut with a goal and an assist as Neil Lennon’s side came from behind to beat Fulham 3-1 at Macron Stadium.
The Manchester United loanee crossed for Eidur Gudjohnsen to equalise just before the break, before firing the Whites ahead with an unstoppable strike from the edge of the area ten minutes from time, with Adam Le Fondre clinching the win in the dying embers of the match.
And having only seen his temporary move from Old Trafford ratified earlier in the day, Janko was pleased to make a good first impression on what was only his second ever senior appearance in front of the Macron Stadium crowd.
“I am very pleased that I could score on my debut,” said the 19-year-old. “My first touch was not ideal so I closed my eyes and decided to hit it and it went in. It was a lucky goal.
“For Eidur’s goal I just whipped the ball in and he did the rest. His first touch was unbelievable. You see his quality and he just had to flick it in so credit to him I think.”
“It was brilliant to play alongside him. He is a great player who has had a fantastic career and played with some of the finest players on the planet.”
“But we have many great players. I could see straight away coming into the team that the standard of the side is high.”
Janko continued: “Hopefully I can learn and keep on improving playing with players of this calibre during my time here.
“I will just try to do my best and bring my style of play to the game. Hopefully I can fit in well here and my time with Bolton can be successful.
“I think we did well tonight, the whole team did well and it was a good win for us. The manager told us three points was the main aim for us tonight so it is good that we delivered that.
“We want to get in the top half of the table. It’s looking good at the moment so we just have to keep going.
“We have a big game next weekend, so we will try our best and hopefully get another good result.”
