Mark Davies set for March return

Neil Lennon is hopeful Mark Davies will return to first team training at the end of March.

The midfielder has been out of action since November, after swelling on his knee following a training session required an operation.

And having successfully recovered a return to training and subsequent game time now looks likely before the end of the current season.

“We have Mark pencilled in for a return in March,” Lennon confirmed. “The quicker we get him back the better, because he’s a terrific player.

“We’re really looking forward to having him back in our squad, though it is imperative that we don’t rush him.

“He’s worked really hard during his time out and is looking great.

“We’re hoping he’s not too far away now.”

it is a crying shame as he is a quality player but he is never fit enough for a long enough period.

He isn't though - even on the rare occasions where he has a run of games he's completely anonymous for 4 out of 5 games.

A complete luxury player with that sort of return, if the club had any sense they'd be looking to pay him off and get shut.

Get him fit enough, Don't play him then put him on the market and get rid, my backs hurting carrying this ponce for so long.

When he comes back there might only be 10 games left..... so he has a chance to finish the season. Although I wouldn't bet money on it.

And I hope you are right, but I fear the others are onto something.

Mark Davies since joining BWFC...

Has spent 135 games on the pitch and 143 games off it.
He has been injured for a total of 1099 days (or approx 3 years unfit to play) since joining the club.

Surely a players value in terms of wage should be half of what he would be paid if regularly fit since he is only worth his full wage half of the time?

He was called up to England U21's on three separate occasions and pulled out each time due to injury. 

I also don't know how he came to Bolton with the reputation he did - he only played 34 matches, including sub appearences between 2005 and 2009. 34!

On 27 February 2013, Davies signed a new contract with Bolton, keeping at the club until 2017. 
Two days later Davies was ruled out with injury for up to ten months. 
His return came as he came on as a late substitute against Wigan ten months later in December 2013. He missed the final two months of that season with injury, as well as all of pre season and the first month of the following season. 
In November 2014, Davies was again injured, this time for up to four months

With that kind of injury record it's no surprise he has never reached his potential. Every time he was fit again he'd have to work out who his team mates are.

Between Mavies and Stu, we've had really poor fortune with injuries.
