Parma have called off Sunday's Serie A visit of Udinese on safety grounds as their financial problems continue to threaten the club's future.

Players and staff from the bottom-of-the-table club have not been paid all season and stewarding costs were unable to be met to stage the fixture.

The club asked to play the match behind closed doors but the Italian Football Federation has ordered a postponement.
Alessandro Lucarelli said: "Time is running out. We need facts, not words."

Training on Friday was also cancelled with cash levels reported to be below £29,700 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

"We've had a meeting with the president and what has emerged is the difficulty in bringing the money to Italy," captain Lucarelli continued.
"He has reiterated that he will try to give us some guarantees in the next 24 hours. But our patience has a limit. We are a united group and we have given the club an ultimatum."

Parma have changed hands twice in the last two months.
Dastraso Holdings, a Cyprus-based conglomerate, took control in December and named Ermir Kodra, a 29-year-old Albanian, as president. The club was sold again two weeks ago to Slovenian-based Mapi group.

Giampietro Manenti, the latest president, said on taking over that he was confident of sorting out the problems.

They were deducted a point in December for failing to pay player wages dating back to November 2013. Club president Tommaso Ghirardi and director Pietro Leonardi were also fined £3,951 each.
Parma finished sixth in the table last year, but missed out on the Europa League for not meeting Uefa's club licensing criteria because of unpaid bills.

The two-time Uefa Cup winners, who have also won the Coppa Italia three times, are managed by former Italy midfielder Roberto Donadoni, who managed the national side between 2006-2008.

Reports coming out of Italy suggest that Parma have been dissolved, just a day after the cash-starved club was forced to postpone its Serie A game with Udinese while an 11th-hour attempt to save the club was underway.

The club have reportedly racked up a debt of €197 million and were forced to call off Sunday's game because they couldn't afford to pay stewards to attend the match at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Owner Giampietro Manenti hasn't paid players or staff at the club, currently sitting rock bottom of the table with just 10 points, for the majority of the season.

But now that cash reserves have finally run out, the Italian Football Federation has been forced to dissolve the club and automatically relegate them.

According to Parma youth team coach Hernan Crespo, the situation has gotten so bad at the once proud club that they can't even afford bottles of water during training sessions.

While no official confirmation has yet been given, it is understood that all of Parma's remaining games this year will be recorded as 3-0 losses.

I really hope this is the start of football eating itself.

I feel for the Parma fans, but that's about it.

Reports from Italy indicate that the club have been dissolved after confirming to Serie ‘A’ that they will not be able to fulfill their duties this season

Parma FC, home of Kenyan midfielder Macdonald Mariga, have been dissolved after confirming to Serie ‘A’ that they will not be able to fulfill their duties this season, according to reports.

According to Sport Mole, the club have been in financial trouble for a number of years, but it recently became clear that the problems had reached a new level, with players confirming that the squad had not been paid their wages this season.

It was revealed that they had been forced to call off Sunday's meeting with Udinese as the club were unable to pay for stewarding costs, and league rules mean that they would be automatically relegated from the top flight of Italian football if it is confirmed that they cannot cover costs for the rest of the season.

All of their remaining matches would count as 3-0 wins to the opposition, and it remains unclear whether the club will be saved by new investors in the future after ownership changed hands twice in the previous two months.

Mariga rejoined Parma FC at start of the season from Italy giants Inter Milan. A box-to-box midfielder, Mariga grabbed media headlines during January transfer window of 2010 when current Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, then with Inter Milan, snapped him on last day of the transfer.

He went on to win an unprecedented treble with Nerazzurri in what turned out to be a historic season in 2010. He bagged the coveted Uefa Champions League trophy, Italian Serie A (2009-2010), Coppa Italia, (2010, 2011), Supercoppa Italiana (2010), and Fifa Club World Cup (2010) as an Inter Milan player.

Mariga, son of ex-international Noah Wanyama, struggled with a knee injury and in successive season, Inter loaned him to Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad and later Parma — the club he left for Inter. His football development was to be hampered in the 2012-13 season with a niggling knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for the better part of the year.

Squad List

Who do they have that you'd want Neil to snap up? I'd take Ishak Belfodil (F), Mattia Cassani (D) and Alessandro Lucarelli (D) right now.
