This man, Steven Sandison, decided he would dole out his own kind of justice to his child molester cellmate.

The parents of the nine year old who was abused probably wouldn't lose any sleep seeing this guy suffer.

Personally I think he got what he deserved. But did he?
I know people don't agree with the death penalty, so is it ok that this guy was murdered? Should he have been left alone to serve the sentence handed down to him?

I would vote "No" but not for the reason cited in the blurb.

It's not about giving the guy a second chance or hoping that he becomes rehabilitated because I honestly think that people like him can't change.

And I'd be more than happy to see him rot in his cell for what he did.

However, I also believe that you can't just start meting out summary justice like the bloke who killed him did.

That way anarchy lies and it's a dangerous road to start going down.

I would (and did) say No-it's up to the state ,which is the combined will of the people, to decide on what is appropriate punishment-so the guy who killed him was out of order and guilty of murder.

However ,then I thought  that if it had been Jihadi John who was killed - would peoples minds change and say it was OK to kill him?
Would we be able to keep a balanced judgement, or let the facts of the offence decide our view?

i'm afraid i can't have a balanced view on this as i have two young children and if it happened to either of mine i would be only too happy to see him dead.
The liberal in me obviously believes it would be wrong but its a close call.

As a parent I would be happy he was dead if he had killed one of my children but my answer has to be no.

Deserved punishment but it wasn't Sandison's place to punish him.
