Lunchtime Porn?

Three judges have been sacked for viewing pornographic material via their official IT accounts, the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office has said.

District Judge Timothy Bowles, Immigration Judge Warren Grant and Deputy District Judge Peter Bullock have been removed from office for looking at tits and knobs during their lunch break.

No one is suggesting a crime has been committed.

This raises an interesting question about lunchtimes and other breaks. Not everyone wants to step out of the office at lunchtime, many take that time to catch up on things like paying bills, Facebook, eBay, Bolton Nuts, train timetables and, of course, porn. They may be using company equipment and electricity but isn't their lunch hour their time, shouldn't they be allowed to use it as they please?

And if a company is happy with people trolling on Facebook & Twitter, why is porn any different? Many would say it is less harmful.

Do you use your work PC/laptop for personal use? Do you view porn on it? Do you see a problem with people viewing porn on their own time?

i use my work pc to post on here during the day (when i'm skiving like now) and at lunchtime. The Hospital has a strict internet blocker so i can't see any social media or streaming sites and i have trouble on here as well when all you potty mouths start swearing as i cant get into the threads as they are classed as offensive

Wow... the NHS must run one hell of a proxy server if it picks up on swearwords in a thread. 

I really want to write a few offensive words now just to mess this thread up for you...

I also think nats got a point. 

However... as I manage to team of people myself, and all these people have laptops that they basically keep with them all the time, they are allowed to use them for personal use.

Twitter and Facebook etc are not blocked, but gambling and porn is. Nat is right - free-time is free time and no company will dictate what you can and cant do in your own time. The real reason things like that are blocked is for network protection - nothing else. Porn and gambling sites are renowned for pop-ups and viruses/malware - big companies really don't want to risk things like key-loggers or DNS changers getting in there networks, thus they have to protect against any threats by blocking potentially hazardous sites like that. 

Of course, Nat - being a former Preston BWOTY would know all this and have her companies network locked down as well.
