Sanmi Odelusi helped create Coventry City’s winner away at Peterborough United on Saturday after coming on as a substitute.
Having replaced the injured Marcus Tudgay in the 40th minute, Odelusi saw his initial shot saved by Ben Alnwick midway through the second half, only for Blair Turgott to poke home the rebound as Coventry moved three points clear of the League One relegation zone.
Elsewhere in the division, Jermaine Beckford completed 68 minutes before being replaced by former White Kevin Davies as promotion-chasing Preston North End were held to a 1-1 draw away at Fleetwood Town.
Conor Wilkinson and Luke Woodland were also in action for Oldham Athletic as they lost 2-0 away at Bradford City.
Having missed the Latics’ midweek victory over Rochdale after being called up on international duty, Wilkinson returned to complete the full 90 minutes, while Woodland was replaced by Dominic Poleon with 16 minutes left on the clock.
In League Two, Rob Holding was denied a Bury debut after the Shakers’ home clash with Southend United was abandoned after six minutes because of a waterlogged pitch.
Tom Eaves had started for Bury as Holding watched on from the substitutes’ bench, before referee Tony Harrington called a premature end to proceedings to Gigg Lane.
