Wanderers striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has been labelled "a different breed" by fellow Icelander Gretar Steinsson.

Gudjohnsen returned to the international fold for Iceland after 18 months on Saturday and opened the scoring in a 3-0 European Championship qualifier in Kazakhstan.

It was the 36-year-old forward's first goal for his country in almost six years but proved he still has that eye for goal, as he has proven since his return to Wanderers this season.

And ex-Whites star Steinsson – who played alongside Gudjohnsen for Iceland – is delighted to see him back playing for both Wanderers and his country.

Steinsson, who is now technical director at League One side Fleetwood Town, said: "It's fantastic for him.

"He's a player of a different breed. He was fantastic to train with, to play with and he's got a wealth of experience.

"It's fantastic for fans in the Championship to be able to see him on the pitch and doing well."

Gudjohnsen had originally called time on his international career after a World Cup play-off defeat to Croatia in November 2013.

But a return for a second spell at Wanderers has reinvigorated Iceland's all-time leading scorer who may be involved again tonight in a friendly in Estonia.

A lot of females tell me I'm a "different breed" in not so many words. I wonder if they mean the same thing?
