Could you eat your own dog?

Let's say you were walking your dog up a mountain somewhere and you slipped and broke your leg.

A week passes and nobody's arrived to rescue you and you've been surviving on rain water and leaves.

But then the leaves run out and you're left looking at Fido.

Could you do it?

Don't think I could.

No.
But I fear rescuers would find a large pile of bones and a more than a little rotund Springer.

I've got a Rottweiler. I think I'd probably come off second best there.

If the dog died, and i was hungry, then maybe.

I've recounted the tale of the mate who fed his girlfriend her own dog before so I won't repeat it and I guess it doesn't count as she didn't realise what she was eating at the time, but of course I'd eat my own dog if the situation demanded it. Would probably eat my own leg if I had to. And so would anyone else I'd have thought.
