Great win for Andy Murray in Nadal's back yard. Since he got married he has won twice on clay. Maybe this is his year?

If they were only playing in Nadal's back yard, does it count towards his ATP ranking?

Or do they only count matches played on proper tennis courts and that?

I don't know much about tennis.

Nadal is the master on clay. He holds the record with 9 French Open Grand Slams on the red surface. Murray has never won the French but his victory over Nadal in Madrid ( also on clay ) bodes well for the future.
