Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos has joined Bolton Wanderers following his release from Old Trafford.
Amos, 25, spent 14 years at United but only made seven first-team appearances for the club, going out on loan to Peterborough, Molde, Oldham, Hull City and Carlisle United before spending a brief spell with Bolton last season.
He played nine Championship games for Neil Lennon’s side and did enough to convince the Bolton boss that he is the ideal candidate to replace Adam Bogdan who is set to sign for Liverpool.
Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman tried to snatch Amos away from his old club with a late bid but Bolton have signed him as a free agent.
Amos could be the first of three goalkeepers to leave Old Trafford this summer with first-choice David De Gea a transfer target for Real Madrid and Anders Lindegaard likely to be surplus to requirements.
