Wanderers are in the market for a new striker – but it is not Iceland international Alfred Finboggason.
The Real Sociedad star, who looks like being sent out on loan at the Spanish club next season, has been a target for Neil Lennon in the past, at Celtic.
Reports in Spain and Iceland yesterday suggested he has taken a second look at the 26-year-old, who had an enviable scoring record in the Dutch league with Heerenveen.
But sources close to the player believe he is looking for a top-flight club and is not currently considering a move to the Championship.
Lennon is, however, weighing up a number of options abroad as he looks to boost his attacking ranks and, say, club sources, is close to making an offer for an un-named target.
Meanwhile, Andy Lonergan’s move to Fulham has been confirmed, with the keeper signing a two-year deal at Craven Cottage.
The 31-year-old was released at Wanderers after three years and 62 appearances for the club.
Lonergan will compete for the number one spot with Marcus Bettinelli at Fulham but is looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m delighted to get it all sorted,” he said. “I’m happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started. It’s a very well respected, historic club and it’s a place where everyone would like to play. We have a lot of potential to hopefully get back to where the club belongs.”
