I'm off to a stag do next week, what can the lovely people of the internet recommend not to miss and what to avoid?

Only been once, twenty four years ago.
I was due to spend a few weeks over the summer with my girlfriend from Uni's family in Kirkcaldy and she met me at Waverley Station after a four hour train journey and told me she'd got back with her old boyfriend so she was dumping me (back before mobile phones and Facebook remember), so I had a pint and went home.
Edinburgh's shit.

No chance of that. There were other people in the restaurant.

I doubt Edinburgh castle will be on the list of must see on a stag do but it should be.
You could go there and leave a mass of empty tins of strong English ale about with empty bottles of English gin, whilst having urinated and defecated everywhere.
They'll like that because that's what they come to England for.

Where is it that you have to crawl through that hole and kiss that stone on some ramparts?
The Stone of Eccles Cakes or summat.
Bloody stupid idea.

Are you thinking of the Blarney Stone in Ireland?

Is that the one?
Yeah, thinking about it, I think you're right - Kissing the Blarney Stone.
(I'm having a night of not Googling stuff to try and prove if my brain still works or not - not doing well so far. I think I may have lost the capacity to learn and retain new information or recall stuff I learnt years ago. Just like kids nowadays.....)

I imagine Cushy is dead but if not check out his curry house near the castle (cross the bridge at the far end of Princes street and it's off to the left) If the old philandering bastard has finally popped his clogs, his nephew Curly has a place further up the road. Cheap and very cheerful on both counts.

because one is a fantastic cultural heritage site full of life, vitality, music, art, architecture, pubs, cafe's, great restaurants etc etc.
and the other is princes street a boring road with a few shops on it.
