With what we currently have, staying up will be the target for Lennon. Bottom 8 without a doubt unless some major signings are made soon.

I think if we're still in the Championship for the start of the 2016/2017 season then Lennon or whoever was incharge has worked their magic.

mid table is the best we can hope for at the moment unless we get a goalscorer and some decent defenders in quick.

After last night's display it looking more like a bottom half finish unfortunately. I think Lennon will be off next year to boot.

You're all over thinking this, it's pre-season, line ups and tactics mean nothing, it's all about fitness and stamina, does anyone think that come August last nights lineup will be anywhere near the starting X1, it won't! anybody remember pre-season under Todd in the 100 goals 98 points season, we lost every game, have faith guys.

Who is Faith and how much does his team want for a transfer fee?MartinBWFC wrote:You're all over thinking this, it's pre-season, line ups and tactics mean nothing, it's all about fitness and stamina, does anyone think that come August last nights lineup will be anywhere near the starting X1, it won't! anybody remember pre-season under Todd in the 100 goals 98 points season, we lost every game, have faith guys.

Perhaps if Eddie was serious about promotion he'd gamble some more shekels and give us half a chance. If we're into him for £170 Million, surely another £30 Million won't be anything too bad, if we get promotion. Or maybe Eddie is thinking Middlebrook will make a nice site for a nuclear power station. As it stands, mid-table I reckon.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!
Wouldn't say he's sad. Seems very dedicated if he's going to spend so much money to go and watch that pile of shite round a foreign country playing meaningless friendlies. Most of us don't even get down to the macron on a Saturday afternoon for a league game let alone meaningless games in austria so I'm judging nobody.Sluffy wrote:For what it is worth, a poster on the TW forum, who went on the Austria friendly tour (how sad is that?)

No, it's sad.

Just saw the highlights (? questionable use of the term) and we are very lucky. We're lucky only to be dropped one division at a time. NL has a long road ahead of him, and I hope administration is not at the end of the road.

Over the last three seasons we've been shedding players and replacing some of them with makeweights which is why we were lucky to survive last season. Surely our target for next season is survival? After all we haven't got any money, everybody else is spending and we are just hoping that the kids come good as they are likely to be the best quality we can get without money to spend or without a takeover.
If we don't sign players we have to hope that the young 'uns turn out to be at least Championship standard and can keep us in with a chance of survival.
Without a takeover our only hope is that the kids mature into a strong team. Survival would be OK - or even good in our current situation - but of course there is the hope that the hype surrounding Lennon turns out to be true and he can work miracles. That would be excellent and I'm rooting for the man.

We will qualify for the playoffs and feel aggrieved at missing out on automatic promotion. City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man U will enter into a bidding war for our prolific young #10 and we will get an obscene amount of money for him if Neil chooses to sell, considering we will have by then found new wealthy owners who want to build a team who will not only stay in the Premier League but be competitive. Wait and see.

Paderborn 0 - Watford 2 tells the story of how far we are off putting together a decent squad for next season and the standard we need to get to if we are going to compete.
OK comparing two games against Paderborn isn't statistically significant, but it looks like Watford are firing - and defending - at a much better standard than our capitulation against them.
And then there's Morecambe.
And the possibility that Lennon won't see it through unless funds are released, although it would look bad for him if he turns out to be a quitter.
We're not in a good place but there's always the bastard hope.
