Some users are still experiencing issues when attempting to visit the forum.

Either they can't get onto the site or they can't load pages or sometimes can't post messages.

If you have had any of these issues in the last 7 days please reply below (if you are able to do so).

Please tell us what ISP you use: (ie, BT, VIRGIN, SKY etc)
Which problem you experienced: (page loading slow, can't open site, can't log in, can't post after successfully logging in)
How often in last 7 days?:

I am working on the issue and hurriedly trying to find a solution. We may need to transfer the site to a new host server or a new platform altogether.

I will have at least a temporary solution by tomorrow morning and a more permanent solution as soon as possible after that.

Apologies to all users experiencing difficulties. Please stick with us!

If you do experience any issues with the site please visit www.boltonnuts.co.uk where you may find it easier to access the site properly.

Alternatively, try these simple solutions...
You can try any or all of these solutions, let us know what works for you.

1. Turn off your broadband router/hub, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on. Then reset your computer.

2. Clear your internet history and cookies.

3. Try a different browser. Google Chrome is the fastest I have used.

I've had problems viewing the site from my iPhone (Orange), but I've tried it in the last week several times and it has been fine.

Thanks for the feedback folks.

Just to clarify, there are odd occasions where the site will go down for everybody, this is out of our control and happens on all sites from time to time. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury to have back ups which can kick in when this happens like big companies do with their sites. This will mean that the site is down for the odd update here and there, maybe once every six to 8 weeks, for less than an hour, usually late at night/early morning.

Our mobile version is updating all the time and had a major update recently which means that most viewers can now view and post in the forum from their mobile devices. This is by no means perfect just yet but it is a step in the right direction (when we first opened the site a few months ago there was no mobile support at all).

I understand that people unable to access the site won't be able to post in this thread but the hope is that those people may access the site from work or a laptop at a hotspot or a mobile - and that way they will be able to let us know if they are having issues from home or other places. Also, the problem seems to come and go rather than be permanent so when those experiencing difficulties do manage to get onto the forum they can let us know here.

Twice I've been timed 'out' when I've been composing a post - and would have lost all my work if I wasn't in the habit of copying and spell checking it first.

I got the HTTP 408/409 Server Busy message.

Anyone else having a problem?

You know if you click back button your message will normally still be there in edit mode when that happens. It is normally your own browser which causes this kind of issue rather than the site being viewed.

Indeed.

As answered here http://www.getnetgoing.com/Internet-Explorer-The-website-is-too-busy-to-show-the-webpage.html

The descriptions “Server Busy” and “The website is too busy” are misleading because HTTP 408 errors arise when the client (e.g. your web browser) is too slow for the server, and HTTP 409 errors arise when there is a conflict in accessing information on the server. Servers use HTTP 503 errors to indicate that they are busy.

Microsoft have a helpful article to troubleshoot the issue. To read in full click http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie8-windows_other/http-408409-error-too-busy-to-display-webpage/a93665e0-ba78-4ab0-a618-54fae73eaf07

or try this:
Method 1:
You can try an Internet Optimization on the pc which has this problem. Follow the steps mentioned below to perform an Internet Optimization.
Method 1:
Clear cached data in Internet Explorer
To determine whether a performance issue or an error message is caused by corruption in the temporary Internet files or in other cached information that is used by Internet Explorer, you must clear cached data. To do this, follow these steps.
For Internet Explorer 7
1. Open Internet Explorer 7.
2. Click Tools, and then click Delete Browsing History.
3. In Delete Browsing History, click Delete All.
4. Click to select the Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons check box, and then click OK.
For Internet Explorer 8
1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
2. Click Safety, and then click Delete Browsing History.
3. In Delete Browsing History area, click Delete.

For method 2 and 3 then just try the link above and it will explain more. Hope that helps Sluffy.

One more thing. If you click "send" or "post topic" and the page takes a few seconds longer than usual to refresh then you could click ONCE on the back button and it will take you back to the message you were writing, click send again and it will normally work second time around.
