Wanderers reject £1million QPR bid for Tim Ream - reports

Wanderers have reportedly rejected a £1million bid from Queens Park Rangers for Player of the Year Tim Ream.

Speculation in West London suggest the Londoners are targeting the 27-year-old defender who topped the appearance charts for the Whites last season, though neither club have officially confirmed any offer.

Ream is yet to figure in pre-season after international duty with the US in the Concacaf Gold Cup but is an almost certain starter for boss Neil Lennon in Saturday's Championship opener at home to Derby County.

But ESPN FC suggest Rangers boss Chris Ramsey, whose side start their campaign at Charlton, is keen on Ream as he looks to bolster a defence weakened by the departures of Rio Ferdinand, Richard Dunne and Steve Caulker – on loan – this summer.

Ream is contracted to Wanderers until 2017 after penning a new deal 12 months ago and is a key member of Lennon's squad having made 126 appearances since joining from MLS side New York Red Bulls in January 2012.

we simply can't afford to let him go, unless of course they offer £5million  . Would be sad to see him go as he's turned into a great player for us.

The problem we have with selling players is even if we did sell one for 5 million quid, would any of that go to the manager or would it just get soaked up by the mountain of debt? No point losing one of our best players if he can't be replaced.
