Adam Le Fondre believes his fruitful spell at Wanderers last season has reignited his career.

The 28-year-old has joined the Whites' Championship rivals Wolves on a season-long loan deal from Cardiff City ahead of the new campaign after publicly stating a desire to move closer to his family in his native North West.

But the Stockport-born frontman may not have had that opportunity to move on from Cardiff had he not reminded everyone of his goalscoring ability at the Macron Stadium last season.

Joining from the Bluebirds on loan in the January transfer window, Le Fondre netted eight times in 16 league starts and ended the campaign as the club's top scorer.

In 25 appearances for Cardiff prior to last season he bagged just three goals and endured a frustrating spell.

Now he is relishing a fresh start at Molineux and says his time at Bolton saw him prove himself again after his barren run in South Wales.

Le Fondre told the Express and Star: “I’ve scored goals everywhere I’ve been.

“I wasn’t so prolific at Cardiff but I went and proved myself again at Bolton and I’m relishing the task here.

“I’m really happy to be here. It’s a massive club with great facilities and a great set-up.

“It’s looking in the right direction and something I want to be involved in."

Wanderers fans had hoped it would be the Macron that would be Le Fondre's destination should he leave Cardiff and with finances tight at the club, a group was set up to try to raise money to fund a potential move.

But the former Rochdale striker has ended up at a different Wanderers, where he will join another former Whites loanee in attack in the shape of England Under-21 forward Benik Afobe.

Le Fondre is looking forward to the link-up with Afobe and Nouha Dicko for Kenny Jackett's side as he targets making his move permanent in 12 months' time.

He added: "There’s Benik and Nouha here who are obviously prolific goalscorers as well so I think we’re going to have a really good trio.

“If I do the business then it will most likely turn permanent, that’s how things work.

“I think that’s really good because if I settle really well and we do well as a partnership then I don’t see why that can’t continue.

“I’m ready for selection, I can’t wait to get started.

"Like anyone that comes in, I just want to hit the ground running."
