Wanderers have agreed to sell Tim Ream to QPR for a fee that could rise to £2million.
The American defender will today put the finishing touches to his move to Loftus Road, with £1.75m paid up front by the West London club. Other bonuses are linked with appearances and promotions.
Neil Lennon confirmed the deal this morning and believes he can invest the money quickly into two signings before this weekend’s trip to Middlesbrough.
“I think a fee has been agreed for Tim but I don’t know if it’s gone through yet, or not,” he told The Bolton News. “But it looks like he’s on his way to QPR.
“It is a blow. He’s a good player but he’s a player whose loss we can hopefully cope with, and it will give me the opportunity to bring one or two other players in.
“We’re not too bad defensively at the minute but we’ll look to get one more in, and then certainly one in an attacking area as well.”
Reports this morning suggested QPR had been successful with a fifth bid of £1.4m for Ream after a week of negotations but Lennon insisted the sum was higher.
“It’s more than that – and there are add-ons as well. I can’t tell you the full amount but it is definitely more than £1.4million."
