Neil Lennon believes new loan signing Wellington Silva will be a difference maker for Wanderers.
Despite showing his frustrations at being unable to play the Arsenal youngster at MK Dons on Tuesday night, the Whites boss is confident Silva can add something extra to his team.
Lennon claimed the Brazilian missed out on being registered for the 1-0 defeat by just three minutes – although his arrival remained un-announced by the club until late yesterday as the final touches were put on Tim Ream’s sale to Fulham.
And though Silva’s record suggests he is more of a goal creator than an outright goalscorer, Lennon is confident he can make an impact on a side in desperate need of a pick-me-up.
“He’ll bring quality, pace, hopefully a goal or two if not plenty of assists,” he said.
“I’m disappointed he’s not been available because we’ve had him in since Sunday night – it should have been done and dusted. That was a real source of frustration before the game.
“We set the team up with him in mind, but we’ll have him for the weekend and that should bring a bit of freshness.”
Wanderers are the only club in the Championship that has failed to score this season and, when factoring in two goalless games at the end of the last campaign, have now gone a club record six games without a goal.
Dougie Freedman’s Forest are next up on Saturday at the Macron Stadium where a bumper crowd is expected to take advantage of significantly-reduced ticket prices for the game.
Lennon admits there is some pressure on Silva to deliver quickly and help out his misfiring side.
His last start was back in May for Almeria against Sevilla in La Liga but he has been urged to get quickly up to speed in a game the Whites hope can kick-start their campaign.
“We need him to settle yesterday,” shrugged the Wanderers boss. “He’s trained a couple of lighter sessions with us but hopefully on Thursday and Friday we’ll take a good look at him and get some work into him.
“We have to start scoring. We can’t keep playing as well as that and getting nothing. (Tuesday night) was one that has got away from us because MK Dons were there for the taking.
“We were far superior all round the pitch apart from the most important area.”
