Neil Lennon has refused to rule out doing more business before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
The Wanderers boss wants to bolster his attack after watching them fail to score in five of their six games in league and cup this season.
But Lennon concedes he will have to move players out in the next 24 hours if he intends to bring anyone in.
Former Swansea, Brighton and Blackpool playmaker Andrea Orlandi is currently training with Wanderers in the hope of securing a deal, although the 31-year-old Spaniard also has an offer on the table to play in Cyprus.
As Orlandi is a free agent, Lennon does not need to rush through a deal before the window closes tomorrow evening but he hopes some late deals can still be done.
“Orlandi is training with us but I don’t think I can say any more than that at the moment,” he told The Bolton News.
“As for other business, well, you never say never do you? I certainly hope we can get something done.
“I think it will have to be the case that it’s one in, one out, so we’ll wait and see what happens over the next couple of days.”
Orlandi started this season as one of the few players who remained at Blackpool following last season’s relegation but terminated his deal by mutual consent earlier this month.
He had been expected to travel to Cyprus on Saturday but has delayed his decision to see whether Lennon can offer him a deal.
Orlandi can play either side of the attack, or as a support striker, and may offer the Whites boss some options – although his past scoring record does not suggest he is the man to solve the problems that have been so evident for the first month of the campaign.
“We need a bit of extra quality going forward,” Lennon said after Friday night’s 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers. “There isn’t enough conviction in our finishing at the moment.
“I’m frustrated we didn’t win that game but delighted we kept a clean sheet at home.
“We would have lost that game last year. We are defending a lot better now but we need to find the recipe in the final third because we got in some good areas to score from. If we’d have scored, it would have been the icing on the cake.”
