Wanderers will find out in the next few days whether Gary Madine and Mark Davies will be fit to face Preston.
Neil Lennon conceded that both players were a doubt for next weekend’s televised Deepdale trip after being withdrawn in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
Davies limped out of the Macon Stadium with a sore Achilles while Madine suffered concussion, leaving Lennon concerned about their availability.
“It was a blow losing Mark when we did because there was a nice fluidity about the way we were playing at the time,” he told The Bolton News.
“He was complaining of an Achilles problem but we’re hopeful he’ll be okay.
“Gary got a concussion. He had a blackout for a few seconds so obviously there’s a concern for next week.”
There is brighter news on the injury front, however, with Jay Spearing expected to return to the squad after suffering nerve damage in his leg and Dean Moxey also in contention after a toe injury.
Emile Heskey should also be in the squad, with Lennon explaining his absence from the squad to face Leeds, tongue firmly in cheek.
“I think he’s got rigormotis,” he grinned.
