Why was Megson hated so much?

I hated Megson but he did have a habit of being able to spot a decent player even though he then ruined it by actually trying to manage them. The Elmander saga springs to mind, he said that he couldn't concentrate because Megson was constantly berating him from the touchline.

He would have made a good scout but he was an awful manager

I've never bought into the notion Megson had 'an eye for talent', Cahill, Lee and Mavies were 3 very good signings - although Mavies was a bit lucky given that his assistant Chris Evans had been the academy manager at Wolves for 17 years so really that signing's come from him.

Aside from those three though think how much he spunked up the wall overpaying for average players. Elmander being the worst case - before somebody replies saying Elmander was a good player, yes he was but he was absolutely awful value for money and never the goalscorer we needed.

Mavies wasn't a good signing, he's fucking shite.

Megson brought in the best striker Bolton has ever seen to the club in Klasnic.

Lethal infront of goal, sacking him was the beginning of our downfall .

Better than anelka?

Just becsuse some armchair fans vote doesn't mean it's fact.

Anelka had a better goals to games ratio. He also played for Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea. He was world class. Klasnic wasn't even a regular starter for us
