Given Trevor Birch's background we're either heading for a takeover or administration. If the barriers to a takeover relate to the stupid caveats outlined today I'm confident Trevor will bang heads in the boardroom until they see sense because it's pretty much come to the point where we need a buyer or we go under. Sorry to hear about Phil Gartside.

He helped put together the takeover by Roman Abramovich so he will do for me. Very Happy

That's a fairly familiar tone to use - personal experience of the man?

More a case of I know a man that does - I was introduced to him some years ago, but we were going into different meetings. The worrying aspect of this is that it gives creedence to the Risdale rumour as Birch was CE at Leeds although I can't remember if it was at the same time that Risdale was Chair.

Just drop that in there..... Very Happy

I've long suspected that you are actually Bernard Matthews and I'm taking that as proof.

Say beautiful.......

I worked there for a short while, when I first joined the Civil Service, in 1966, when it was the Board of Trade. I then moved on to The Patent Office.

Doing it in such a way also keeps up the image that we aren't completely down on our uppers, and still have room to manoeuvre, (which we all know we don't really).

Agreed.

Although if he is really ill then....recover soon Phil.....it's only bloody football in the end.

Whatever, it looks like something is a t least happening....can't wait to see what shakes out.

Nope it's really serious. Don't think he will be back

Right Spritey!

It's time to spill.

Enough of the brief snippets and suggested ITK comments - give us the full script.

You've already proved that you know more than you're letting on so it's time to come clean.

Otherwise we'll send Scott (remember him?) round your gaff to bore you to death with his Mayweather DVD collection and you'll be begging us for mercy.

So give......

I wish him well.

At the end of the day he was basically only an employee of a company and he took and hell of a lot of abuse from numerous people who never really had a clue what his job was about.

Yes he didn't help himself at times and perhaps he should have kept a lower profile than he did but even that didn't warrant the public hatred and abuse he received for a number of years, from many people

Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Stroke is what I am also hearing from an occasionally reliable source.

Slag me off if you like, ban me, call me a twat and do what you like but it just seems very convenient that Gartside has suddenly had a stroke and is incapable of giving any interviews.

On the same fucking day that the club calls in a bloke who specialises in parachuting in when you're facing administration / going bust.

Not buying it, sorry.

Birch has been brought in to speed up this take over. Gartside is not very well.  Administration/going bust isn't a worry. It's as simple as that

I'd imagine Birch was called in after Gartside was taken ill - which would make perfect sense.

I feel sorry for PG. He must have been under enormous stress of late and he does carry a fair bit of weight so he was always at risk of a stroke or heart attack.

Hope he comes out of it with his brains intact. I have a friend who had a stroke last year and she is pretty much back to normal now, so there's hope for the guy.

Or it could just be a coincidence. We are going bust and have been for a long time, I suspect Gartside being taken ill has focussed a few minds.

We need to sort the mess out if we want the club to exist going forward it's as simple as that
