Neil Lennon says frustration was once again the overriding emotion as Bolton Wanderers were edged out 2-1 at Reading on Saturday afternoon.

Despite creating a number of opportunities, Bolton were thwarted on a number of occasions by Reading stopper Ali Al Habsi.

Lucas Piazon and Danny Williams scored for the hosts prior to the interval, whilst Liam Feeney’s penalty late on reduced the deficit.

“Once again, we’re here saying that I thought we were the better team,” the manager said after the game.

“We should have been a few goals up and early on I felt we were by far the better team. After that period we dropped our heads and conceded a very sloppy goal through an individual mistake.

“At half time we’re left wondering what had gone on out there because we found ourselves two goals down despite having played pretty for 30 minutes. That’s pretty symptomatic of where we are right now.

“We played okay in the second half, hit the crossbar through Shola and should have scored before we did from the penalty.

“We should have taken something from the game. People will say that there is no luck going for us at the moment, but you’ve got to make your own luck.

“The situation surrounding the club at this moment in time shouldn’t affect the players. They know they can influence what goes on during the games and not what happens behind the scenes.

“We’ve got to try and win the game against Brentford now and see where that takes us.”
