We all have them. Relatives we don't see from one year to the next.
Then, along comes Christmas, and they all start crawling out of the woodwork.
That's fine,I can put up with it for the sake of a peaceful life, but what I always find tricky is,how much I should spend on their Christmas gift?
Do I just stick a pair of socks in a festive bag? Or perhaps a pair of novelty underpants?
A silk scarf for the ladies perhaps?
I don't want to look like a meanie, but I never see these buggers from one year to the next,so why should I spend a fortune on them?
I once gave a cousin I hadn't seen for around 18 months a pack of thermal socks, only to find, when I unwrapped his gift to me,that he'd bought me an iPad.
Made me feel bad that.
So how much do you spend on those relatives you hardly ever see? £5,£10?
Should I even bother at all?
