The Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust has now been given the official green light to operate.
The Financial Conduct Authority have issued a certificate confirming the registration of the Trust as a Community Benefit Society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.
That means they are now legally able to operate as a recognised body, the next step being the creation of a steering group.
More than 450 people have volunteered their services and skills, while membership is now closing in on the 4,000 mark.
“BWFCST would like to place on record a big thank-you to Supporters Direct for all the help, advice and encouragement received over recent weeks,” a statement read on the official trust website.
“Also, a big thank-you goes to the FCA for their speedy processing of our registration application.
“And last, but not least, a massive thank-you to the most important people in this process, the BWFC fans. The passion, support and encouragement shown firstly at the open meeting on 6 January 2016, followed by the overwhelming number of membership pledges received over the last week has demonstrated the place of their Club in BWFC fans’ hearts.
“This is your Trust and will work on your behalf to explore all possible avenues in securing a stable and sustainable future for your Club.”
