The Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust has underlined its intention to give fans a voice, regardless of the ownership decision this week.

Confirming that they are yet to receive the preferred bidder status they sought from Eddie Davies, the BWFCST issued a statement this morning to reinforce their aims.

The Bolton News understands that Wanderers will make a decision on a new owner by the end of this week, and perhaps as early as today.

But regardless of who gets the go-ahead from Davies, the trust will continue in its efforts to set up an elected body with the aim of taking maximum engagement with any future board.

The statement read: “The Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust understands that there may be a decision by the end of this week from the owner regarding the sale of the club.

“The statement made by the trust on January 28, 2016 and posted on our website is still current. To date there has been no answer received.

“The Steering Group wish to reiterate that we are still working towards the full establishment of the trust and that we want to reinforce our commitment to the objectives and aims as referenced on many occasions, namely to obtain the maximum possible say for the supporters in the ownership and governance of BWFC.

“Whatever decision is made by Mr Davies by the end of this week, or in the future, we would confirm that the trust will remain consistent in its aims and will use best endeavours to react in the interests of the supporters and the club. Stability and sustainability for the club will be uppermost in any future engagement with any interested party.”
