Why Spearing didn't play today.

Every time I read of more crap like this the more I consider that Gartside was so completely out of his depth its untrue - How he managed to pull the wool over that idiot Davies's eyes should be a lesson to us for years to come - and for Davies to say he wanted us to have a non-foreign owner is a bit rich - cause him and his cohort -"massive Bolton Fans" the pair of them, have dropped us right in it
and if the prick is stupid enough to throw all his money at the club and not have his hands on the reigns then he fuckin deserves to lose most of it. No sympathy at all.

The late Chair doesn't tell the owner what's going on - for years. The current leaders don't tell the manager that he can't select one of his players. It's as if the various departments have gone out of their way not to communicate.

On Spearing's wages 100k is peanuts. If he gave half a damn about the plight of our club he would stump up the cash himself and play out of his skin for the rest of the season.

It was one of the instalments for part of the original transfer fee so you can't just not pay it, otherwise we'd be open to all sorts of charges

It was widely reported at the time as being an extra payment which was triggered by Spearing playing a certain number of games in any given season.

So if it was £100k for last season, why's it £330k now?

Last season, this season and the next?

I thought his contract was up in 12 months, so how's that work?

At a guess - I've no idea really - it could simply be the last staged payment of the transfer deal - and as such if the transfer is now paid in full then the 'strings' no longer apply.

It was the last stage of the transfer fee but it wouldn't affect the clauses, however the clause doesn't stand in L1 by all accounts so he can play everygame if need be

Does Spearing even want to play for us next season ?  I don't recall any comments on the matter.

It might be a move to officially make him our player so that we can go ahead and off-load for say 200k or something like that...... I have no idea until more facts come out.

So if I'm reading that correctly, this payment's got nothing to do with the clause which stopped him playing last season (or at least £200k of it hasn't) and it's money we still owe them simply for signing him?

It's nearly 3 years since we signed him and I know that transfer fees aren't generally shelled out in one lump but did we buy him on fucking HP?

And given that Blackburn had a bid for £1.75 million accepted by Liverpool before we got him, it begs the question how much did we actually pay for him?

Gartside was a fucking prick.

At £18k a week wages on top of that he'd better be brilliant and get us promoted next season. 
He owes us big time.

Unfortunately it's not like a car on finance where if you can't afford it, you don't pay then they come and repossess it. Not paying would have quite far reaching implications including the embargo staying in place.
