Wanderers will welcome back Rob Holding and Stephen Dobbie to their squad for today’s trip to Derby County but Mark Davies could again miss out.
Davies was a notable absentee from the 18-man party at Brentford in midweek and interim boss Jimmy Phillips revealed at his pre-Derby press conference yesterday the midfielder has been suffering with a sickness bug.
And he will face a late check to see if he can return to the fold at the iPro Stadium.
But Holding is back from suspension to take his place and Dobbie could be in contention if he gets the all-clear after the head injury he suffered against Reading a week ago ruled him out in midweek.
However Wellington Silva (groin) and Gary Madine (hip) are unlikely to make their returns.
Phillips told The Bolton News: “Mark Davies may potentially be able to come back into the squad but he is very much touch and go.
“He has had a sickness bug and is still not 100 per cent so we will check on him.
“Stephen Dobbie will come back in – he trained on Thursday for the first time since his head injury in the Reading game so hopefully we will get the all-clear with him.
“Wellington is definitely not going to be fit and Gary only started running on the grass on Thursday so I can’t see him being fit either.
“So we have a similar squad than we had on duty at Brentford.
“We really were down to the bare bones on Tuesday with every fit player in the senior side travelling.
“We go to Derby with a couple more added with Rob back from suspension as well as Stephen hopefully coming back in.”
Meanwhile, Phillips has confirmed winger Rob Hall is back at the Macron Stadium to start his rehabilitation from a ruptured cruciate knee ligament injury suffered in training while on loan at MK Dons recently.
The 22-year-old has been with the Dons all season and is out of contract at Wanderers in the summer.
But Phillips says the club will help him regain his fitness.
The interim boss added: “Rob has seen a specialist in London this week and is coming back to the club.
“As a duty of care, I believe it is up to us as a club to get him fit again as a player.”
