Quade Taylor came off the bench to make his Dagenham & Redbridge debut away at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
But sadly it proved to be a day to forget for the defender and the Daggers as a 3-2 defeat confirmed their relegation from the Football League.
Coming on in the 47th minute having seen a Jay Simpson brace fire Orient into a two-goal lead, Taylor and Dagenham were given hope as quick-fire goals from Jamie Cureton and Clevid Dikamona saw them level the scores on the hour-mark.
However, Armand Gnanduillet fired in the winner minutes later to seal Dagenham's fate.
In the Sky Bet Championship, Liam Feeney claimed an assist as Ipswich Town came from behind to draw away at Sheffield Wednesday.
Behind at the break to Fernando Forestieri's opener, the winger crossed to set up Andre Dozzell's header midway through the second half as the two sides fought out a 1-1 draw.
Over in Italy, Francesco Pisano was an unused substitute as Avellino lost 2-0 away at Perugia.
