Would be interesting to see if they go for Rafa as their next manager.

Pity that as he's an affable likeable bloke. He won't join us-he's too good for that, but it would be nice to think there was an outside chance of offering him the job

Last night was the final nail in the coffin. It's been on the cards for weeks. He comes across as a nice guy but football is a results business and he hasn't delivered with the team at his disposal.

Defensively naive,a problem that dogged him at Wigan too.

Very true. He won the FA Cup with Wigan and got them relegated.

He's the Spanish Owen Coyle.

He's very Owen Coyleish in that it is all about attack to him and no thought to the defence.
His teams become unbalanced - just like Coyle's - and they leak goals - just like... well you know whose.
Baines said as much earlier in the season and was jumped on for doing so by Martinez.
It looks very good when they are winning but it isn't hard for opposition managers to know just what to expect when they play them - and thus be prepared, practiced and disciplined to deal when they face them.
Everton have greatly underachieved this season with the squad at Martinez's disposal - just like we did with the squad that Coyle got us relegated with a squad consisting amongst others of -
Jussi, Alonso, Ricketts, Ream, Eagles, Petrov, Kevin Davies, Klasnic, Reo-Coker (voted player of that season), Lee, Eagles, Steinnson, and Tuncay as well as players like Bogdan, Vela, Mavies, Wheater, Pratley and Lonergan - in case anyone forgets what a half decent team we had in our last Premier league campaign!
Similarly once again at the key January transfer window instead of strengthening their teams in midfield or defence, they both lashed out on yet another unnecessary striker (unproven in the Premier) and both hardly playing at all in the last half of the season, £13.5 million Niasee for them and Sordell for us.
Just for completeness guess who is the manager of the bottom ranked team in the whole of Major League Soccer right now - with the worst ranked defence?
Answers on a postcard please.
EDIT - Boggers beat me to it!

They won't get him. My guess is he's going to Italy, maybe Lazio. Apparently the manager there has been under some pressure lately and has hinted he might step down. Even if that's not the case I suspect Mr Pellegrini will want a champions league club and Everton won't be big enough to interest him.scottjames30 wrote:They're going for Mr Pel ( ex City ).

It's quite funny actually. We were discussing Coyle at the Fulham game and somebody pointed out that Coyle's team in MLS were rock bottom but they can't be relegated because in the MLS once you are in the top league you stay there!
No wonder he went to America.

Maybe not, but it worked for Ranieri

Wouldn't be surprised to see Coyle appear in China, once he gets booted out. There's money to be had over there.

True but Ranieri hadn't won a top flight let alone a Champions League before he went to Leicester. Everyone knew he was a good, even great manager but he was always seen as "Tinkerman" or the "Nearly Man".gloswhite wrote:luckyPeterpiper wrote:Everton won't be big enough to interest him.

I bet his next job if he decides to move on from Leicester won't be with a team that barely escaped relegation. I wouldn't be surprised to see clubs like Real, Barca, Bayern or Juventus sniffing around if and when they next have a vacancy. After all success tends to breed success, especially when someone does something as amazing as Ranieri's done at Leicester.
