Anyone packing up the groundsheet and heading off to a popular music festival to take in a modern dance beat combo or three this summer? I certainly will after having failed miserably to get up in time to book a Glasto ticket I'm orf to Latitude in July.
A true homage to middle class glamping, I'll be taking a campervan full of whisky assorted medications and attitude ready to trip out to Sadler's Wells and the Young Vic. May even listen to some of the pop music in the absence of a psytrance stage.
Although am thinking about Triplicity on Exmoor in a week or two to take care of that.
Anyone else going to a festy this year?

Please Lusty stop now  Very Happy

I've only been to one festival and that was Reading 93 to see New Order, the state of the porta loo's has been imprinted in my brain ever since. It was a good festival apart from our tent getting robbed.

We had a barby in our back garden on Sunday and I had the radio tuned to Smooth FM on low in the background.

That's as rock & roll as I get these days.

Too old for sleeping in a field with a load of kids on their "gap yares, yeah?" and queuing up to wee in a smelly portapotty.

Been there and done that years ago.

Know your limitations, I say.....

Have you seen the line up for Latitude?

....a long way from the pavement in anybody's book.

Just googled it and only recognised about five names.

And I'm disappointed to note that Squeeze are considerably lower on the bill than some band who can't even spell the word "Churches" correctly.

Very Happy

You need to look at the dance, poetry and theatre sections if you're looking for anything vaguely R & R. The rest is wallpaper. New Order for starters.
Gutted they haven't run another series of Guitar Star - the final was at Latitude last year and it was brilliant.

Think I may have just been roped into this nerd-fest:

A festival which includes astronomy...what's not to love?

Just arrived back from a hectic weekend in Poland for the Orange Warsaw festival.

All that way to see the lovely LANA DEL REY in concert.

Great performance.

Sadly I've just woken up.

It was a dream.

First of all I consider myself to be in my early 60s.
Secondly, you are as old as the woman you feel and my missus is quite a few years younger than me.
Thirdly, I'm a musician and love my music.
Fourthly, it's possible to go to festivals and still enjoy the home comforts these days, especially if you go in a campervan which is what I'm doing.

I do however draw the line at glamping - it's for twats.

And Download which kicks off today with Rammstein headlining tonight. My spinning instructor is a total metalhead and she's going so no doubt we'll be attacking the mountains to the strains of thrash for the next month or so.

The good news is that a new series of Guitar Star is starting so it's possible we'll see the final at Latitude next month.

Great line up. I love Rodrigo y Gabriele - superb spanish-influenced acoustic guitar sound and I like Jake Bugg as well as the bigger names. Plus it's at Strathallan Castle which is a magic venue. Sadly I can't go.

I'm guessing "Bear's Den" are a local band with limited imagination? Didn't they used to support Mary Hill? And Moll Guy?

Check them out. They are guitar duettists and composers and they were mentors/judges on Guitar Star last year. Here's them doing a familiar tune....
