I do a £3 or £4 goals galore with Billy hill most weekends. 5 - 7 fixtures across all 4 leagues normally gets you a return of £55 - £95. Four from my last seven have paid out.

WhiteBic - I've not tried that one. Is it another name for the 'Both teams to score bet' Hill's offer on-line?

The Placepot can produce a big return for a relatively small outlay and is worth a go if you are interested in horse racing. Same but to a lesser extent for the Quadpot.
I have won the Placepot a few times and like you say, for a small outlay you can get a good return. Invariably, one bloody horse lets you down.

RT- Don't know about you but I always do a 'perm'. The analysis that has been done on Placepot wins indicates to a very great extent that you have much less chance of success with a single selection in each race.

Thanks WB - I'll give that a go this weekend. Might be worth doing for a few weeks on an increasing stake with the aim clearly of winning but if not then recouping earlier losses.

Had a bet in the week on a Liverpool win and Everton, QPR to draw their games. I bet a few people made a bit of money if they bet on a QPR win.
Never like betting on FA Cup games, the 3rd round especially because it's a very hard set of fixtures to call.

I think the 3rd round is normally a good set of fixtures for an accumulator. Pick your 6 - 10 favs and stick a couple of quid on it.

RT . 5 out of 6 on the Placepot today. The one bloody horse you mentioned must have been running at today's meeting !

58, I have only ever done one selection per race when I do the Placepot. How does the perm work ?

RT - I use the Tote site (Totepool.com) for my Placepot entries. Their coupon will calculate the perm for you after you have made your selection or selections in each of the 6 races and entered your unit stake (i.e when you are ready to place the bet). You can select as many horses as you want in each race but obviously the more you select the larger the perm and the bigger the final stake.
For example, one perm that is used consists of one selection in two races; two in another two races; and three selections in the remaining two races = 36 bets multiplied by whatever unit stake you want. For my recent £70 win I used a unit stake of 20p (total stake: £7.20p). Placepot perms as you may know have the potential to produce more than one winning line which is of course a nice bonus. You could if you wish select two horses in each race or whatever combination you want. I am sure you get the drift. Either way you've still got to select a horse that is at least placed but it goes without saying that the more horses you have the better your chances will be. I tend to go for a mixture of favs; horses in the first three of the betting forecast and tipped horses.
Hope this helps ! '58

Cheers. I might have a look at that. I tend to do a lucky 15 or lucky 31 ( £1.50 or £3.10 ) depending on the odds and I also back my nap of the day.
I have known some Placepots to pay over £1000 providing some long shot outsiders have won.

A guy I used to work with had success with something he referred to as the 'fortress system'. This basically turned out to be a treble or fourfold on top sides such as; Man Utd; Rangers (at the time); and other top European sides (particularly those playing at home) grouped together to give reasonable odds. On the subject of perms (but not Placepot perms this time) there could be scope to develop this bet and select say 10 strong teams and from these make 5 pairs and then perm any two of the 5 pairs to give 10 fourfolds. This is something I am thinking of trying at present.

Yes this was something a work colleague and I wondered if you bet on the big teams to win each week over the course of the year, surely you would be quids in...
Would like to look at historical results and see what would have happened if say you bet £20 a week on this for the full Season
So Top Teams I would chose would be:
Man Utd
Arsenal
Chelsea
Man City
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Celtic
I do wonder...
Its a lot of working out to do so I haven't looked into it

BTID - I don't know the answer that either. The guy in question used to back them as trebles and fourfolds to get reasonable odds and make the bet worthwhile. As indicated in my early post I now would be looking to add another 3 dominant teams to the 7 on your list to make 10 in total. The 10 could then be made into 5 pairs which could be permed and backed as as 10 fourfold accumulators. So, using your list the 1st pair would be Man U and Arsenal; 2nd Chelsea and Man City; 3rd Real Madrid and Barcelona; 4th Celtic and another team; 5th pair would be say two strong Italian teams. On a betting slip each pair would be bracketed and numbered and the instruction would be 'Perm any 2 pairs from 5 = 10 x 50p win 4 team accumulators' = £5. I have used this bet before for horses but it can be used for anything. If you get 2 winning pairs you have a winning fourfold; 3 winning pairs = 3 winning fourfolds; 4 = 6 winning fourfolds; all 5 winning pairs gives you 10 winning fourfolds. Incidentally, I would also back all 10 as a straight accumulator. I don't use betting shops these days and entering this on the internet would involve a bit more work.
