Genuine question, do people over 15 wear replica tops?

I have far too many Wanderers shirts. I just can't bring myself to part with them.

Read the thread Nat and you'll see plenty of people do.

I still have my red Normid top but haven't worn it in years because it was a skinny man's shirt even then and doesn't look good on over 40's with desk gut.
But I still have my 1996/97 white shirt and that does still fit me. I bought an XL at the time 'cos I liked them really baggy. It's not so baggy now but I can get in it without looking silly. I haven't bought a new one other than the green Blesma charity top (which I never wear 'cos I hate the design) since 2004.
I might just get the one here though or maybe if they make the away shirt red like the old one used to be I'll get that.

I'm the same as you bonce. I counted how many I've still got and it turned out to be eleven. I even have the white 1978/79 shirt AND the red one as well. My dad gave them to me when I grew into them in about 83 or so and I stuffed them in a drawer 'cos they had collars and collars were too uncool for a 14 year old. God I feel so old right now.boltonbonce wrote:I have far too many Wanderers shirts. I just can't bring myself to part with them.

I have a bright yellow and black Reebok shirt bearing the BW badge on the chest......and signed on the front by the great Jay Jay himself next to the black lettering that says "reebok".
It will go with me to my grave.. The only snag is I can't wash it or go out in the rain in it, for fear the signature will run or disappear altogether!

I doubt they make sizes for the average Nuts supporter.

Go to a specialist sports memorabilia framer and get it protected mate. It costs a fair bit more than say a picture framers but it's really worth it. They use a special glass and synthetic compound to stop light damage and heat damage. My dad has an England shirt from the 1982 World Cup squad that he got done by a specialist and it looks exactly like it did the day they all signed it.okocha wrote:I have a bright yellow and black Reebok shirt bearing the BW badge on the chest......and signed on the front by the great Jay Jay himself next to the black lettering that says "reebok".

Course they do Nat, didn't you see my post earlier? I'm ordering one in Super-Meaga-Quadruple-Extra-Massive-MoobHider-BellyFlattener-Humongously-Enormously-Large size. I've had a couple framed. One of them is a 58 Cup Final shirt, signed by five of the team who played that day, plus Ralph Gubbins.

Wow bonce, I'd love to just see that shirt. Arguably the most famous FA Cup Final ever, with the possible exception of the 1923 "White Horse" final. Strange that we won them both when you think about it.boltonbonce wrote:I've had a couple framed. Got lots of Brucie stuff if anyone wants to see it?
No?
Fair enough. I'm not one to push it down anyone's throat.
(Don't even think about it Johnny)

Thanks, LPP. Only problem is...I want to wear it! Not sure I'd look totally cool wearing a frame....
So it stays in the wardrobe until climatic conditions and limited exercise ensure it won't get smelly, wet or dirty.

Please don't take it out of the frame my friend. It's a piece of history that can't be replaced or repaired and will only grow in value as time goes on, both monetary and sentimental. I know it must be tempting to wear it, I'd be just as tempted but it deserves to be preserved exactly as it is.okocha wrote:Thanks, LPP. Only problem is...I want to wear it! Try clear nail polish over the signature. Inside and out, mind you.
