Sad news.

I know she'd been ill for a while and it was expected but it's still sad to hear that she's died.

Another very funny lady gone too soon.

As head of light entertainment for one of the TV channels, my brother-in-law worked with Caroline Aherne quite a lot. He has always said that she was a genius as far as script-writing is concerned. She will clearly be missed.

Very funny and talented lady but like so many very talented comdians/comediennes was a troubled soul.
 She was married to the guy from New Order wasn't she

Very sad news. Caroline Aherne was one of the funniest comediennes there has ever been. Royal Family was brilliant but so was pretty much everything she was associated with.

Watching a Mrs Merton rerun on BBC1 and it's still as brilliant now as it was then.

So many really funny people are dying -this has been a bad time with Victoria Wood and now Caroline Aherne.
Not many really witty and talented comediennes left now.
And all of them so comparatively young too!

I got the full Mrs Merton boxset for Christmas a few years back and know it pretty much word for word. It seems to be just the Debbie McGhee comment that people remember but the whole series is full of hilarious little digs at people. Absolutely unbelievable how quick and witty she was, makes some of the so-called comedians on tele at the moment look absolutely useless really.
