Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Lewis Buxton on a free transfer.

Most recently on the books at Rotherham United, the versatile defender has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Macron Stadium.

The 32-year-old started his career with his Portsmouth, breaking into their first team during the 2001/02 season before enjoying loan stints with Exeter City and AFC Bournemouth.

After moving to Stoke City, he signed for Sheffield Wednesday in January 2009 following a brief loan spell at Hillsborough and was a member of the Owls side that won promotion to the Championship in 2011/12.

Spending last season with Rotherham United, Buxton made 22 appearances in all competitions as the Millers avoided relegation.

So we've got Beevers, Buxton and Madine who were all part of the Sheff Wednesday side that got promoted a few years back.

Perhaps we can take some comfort from that.
