The operation to repair Darren Pratley’s damaged ankle ligaments has been described as a “success” by sources at Wanderers.

The midfielder faces at least 10 weeks on the sidelines after breaking his leg on the opening day of the season against Sheffield United.

Scans then found further damage around the ankle joint itself, which required surgery, Pratley watched the Whites in action at Wimbledon before his operation and spoke about the injury in his pre-match programme notes on Saturday.

“To pick up an injury like that at any time is frustrating but for it to happen on the opening day of the season is absolutely gut-wrenching,” he said.

“I was operated on earlier this week and although it will be difficult not to be able to help, I’ll be there cheering the lads on and relishing getting back out there myself later in the year.”

Meanwhile, ex-Wanderers midfielder Medo Kamara has signed for Kuwait SC.

The Sierra Leone international had spent the last five months playing for HJK Helsinki in Finland, where he had previously won the country’s player of the year.

Medo was signed for £750,000 by Dougie Freedman in January 2013 but after featuring heavily in his first 18 months at the club, he was frozen out by the Scot’s successor, Neil Lennon.
