Phil Parkinson has complained to referee’s chief David Allison after claiming his side have been on the wrong end of FIVE major mistakes in the first month of the season.
Wanderers vented their frustration this week by sending a DVD of officiating gaffes to the Football League’s top man.
Parkinson tried hard to bite his tongue after last weekend’s 1-1 draw against MK Dons and admits he does not want to be seen as a “perennial moaner” by the Whites’ supporters.
But as his side go to Walsall looking to preserve an unbeaten start to the season, the Wanderers boss felt something had to be said.
“There are a lot of managers in the Premier League moaning about hard luck stories but if you look at some of the ones we haven’t got, it’s almost laughable,” he told The Bolton News.
“I’m conscious of the fact that I don’t want to appear in front of the press and be talking about referees every time – but we felt it had got to the stage where we had to say something.
“You go back to Mark Davies being booked for diving against Fleetwood when he was clearly fouled, Madine against Southend, and then Proctor on Saturday when a bloke came from nowhere as he was about to hit the ball and flattened him, also the fantastic save the Blackpool centre-half made from Liam Trotter.
“We sent it off and just asked whether we were moaning about them or whether we had clear justification to be aggrieved?
“We wanted him to see the chain of decisions. We have cleared it
up with Dave Allison now, got it off our chests a bit.
“Me and Simon Marland – who is very experienced in these matters and has dealt with referees here for years – came in on Monday morning and just agreed we needed to flag things up.”
Wanderers could bring Zach Clough back into the squad at the Banks’s Stadium after he came through a week of full training unscathed.
The striker has been sidelined since last month with a hamstring problem but could be passed for a place on the bench.
