The pre-season starts on Wednesday with the Wanderers facing Ayr United away from home.

Anybody going? Anybody got a way of watching or listening?

Reckon we can cause an upset and get a win?

The season is nearly here!

I've got this idea in my head (no more than that) that the first game BWF&AC (as was) played under their new floodlights was a friendly against Ayr Utd.

The floodlit match was against Hearts not Ayr.
To the best of my knowledge this will be the 2nd meeting between Ayr and Bolton in post war football. The other friendly was in August 1969 at Ayr (2-1 Bolton ) and was a programmeless match.Ayr did not issue.
At schoolboy level there is at least one post war programme featuring Ayr and Bolton to collect.A youth tournament in 1981 played in Scotland included Ayr, Bolton and Stoke with a very young Julian Darby in the Bolton boys team photo. The programme for this tournament is common and may be purchased for £1 from Steve Earl football programmes.

Hello and welcome Buff.

Very informative, thank you.

I'm a great admirer of a forum poster widely known as 'George' who also is extremely knowledgeable about the football programme world.

I do hope you are one and the same but if you are not then I do hope you come to get to know us on here better and will feel free to join in with the banter on all things as well as on your specialised subject.

I look forward to reading your future posts.

Apparently Mills looks quite composed in a Cahill sort of way.

Starting lineup: Bogdan, Mears, Mills, Knight, Ricketts, Chung-Yong, Andrews, M Davies, Petrov, K Davies, Eagles

Bench:Lynch, Riley, Alonso, Ream, Cisse, Vela, Pratley, Wylde, O'Halloran, Eaves, Blakeman

Bogdan has already gone high up in the Ayr for a cross and an appeal for a penalty on Eagles was waved away.

BWFC: Wonderful piece of skill from Ayr's McStay. He put his foot on the ball and rolls it round his standing leg and completely bamboozles Mears. Luckily enough, Chung-Yong was back covering to clear any danger.

Nice.

Glaring miss from Andrews from all of three yards out! Chungy's shot squirmed right across the face of goal. (30) 0-0

One wag has commented on Mills nearly gifting Ayr a goal and then Andrews missing from 3 yards - he thinks they'll fit right in!

I appreciate your commentary, I wasn't aware the game was being played in Jamaica. Is Rihanna there?

Just tried to check the BBC pages for the score and it seems Almere FC v Hartlepool is more of a big game than Ayr v Bolton!!!!

Super pass from Andrews, who picks out Kevin Davies at the back post, though he can't quite turn home from six yards! (45) 0-0

Bring on the Championship!

Alonso, Ream, Riley, Cisse, Vela, Wylde and Pratley all on. Off go Ricketts, Mills, Mears, M Davies, Andrews, Petrov and Eagles. (46) 0-0

Where's Joe McKee? How the hell are we expected to score? Coyle out!

Don't be dumb, Coyle doesn't pick new signings.
