Bolton Wanderers Under-23s twice conceded the lead to fall to late 4-3 defeat at home to Leeds United on Wednesday night.
In an entertaining encounter at the County Ground, Leyland, the young Whites raced into an early lead as George Newell found the back of the net with a well-placed low finish from inside the box.
Leeds goalkeeper Will Huffer prevented Alex Samizadeh from doubling Bolton's lead as the forward's powerful shot was kept out shortly before the half-hour mark.
The Iranian was not to be denied for long however, as he increased the Trotters' advantage soon after, finishing from close-range at the far post following a corner.
However, the visitors fought back and managed to halve the deficit shortly before the interval as Toumani Diagouraga powered home from inside the box.
Leeds were level within moments of the restart as Eoghan Stokes finished from Jack McKay's cutback.
Wanderers managed to re-take the lead with 15 minutes left on the clock as substitute Alex Honeyball prodded home on the rebound after Huffer had produced a fine save to deny the Whites.
But Bolton were unable to hang on to their lead as substitute Sammi Amissah produced a long-range piledriver in the 83rd minute to once again level the scores.
And the game was turned on its head minutes later as Leeds compiled further misery on the Trotters to complete the turnaround, Stokes finishing well for his second goal of the game in the 87th minute to consign Wanderers to a first home defeat of the campaign.
