On clinching a hard-fought victory...
We’re very pleased. It was a tough game and we knew it would be. We showed real quality on the ball and created some good chances.
All round it was a very solid, hard-working team performance and we deservedly got the win.
We’ll enjoy the victory because that’s important. There’s always that added pressure away from home, especially when you’re live on TV, and even more so when it’s a local derby as well.
This was a big game tonight and we handled the occasion really well.
On ending Wanderers' 87-year wait for a league win at Gigg Lane...
We’d spoken about the club’s run of games at Gigg Lane so it was important for us to be that to bed tonight. It was a terrific effort from the lads.
On the two penalties...
We’ve had to wait a long time for a penalty this season. If they were soft, we’ve earned that tonight. I’ve not watched them back yet but we were long overdue a couple of decisions like that.
On Wanderers' travelling fans…
We had fantastic support tonight. I can feel the momentum building with our supporters and that only happens when they see honesty, endeavour and commitment out on the football pitch.
They are starting to identify with this group of lads. They really will run themselves into the ground for the shirt.
Everyone contributes to getting the results every game. Every fan who comes to the ground, every player whether they start or not – everyone has to make a contribution.
And finally, on climbing to second in the Sky Bet League One table...
It’s good to be up there. We’d rather be first but we’ll take second for now. More importantly it’s a good result to take into a home game at the weekend.
