I’m so pleased. It was a good all-round display, it had a bit of everything; set piece goals, great goals from open play and when we moved the ball quickly tonight we looked a very dangerous side.
It was pleasing to kill a team off. I said to the lads at half-time about previous games where we’ve been ahead and not finished a team off earlier but tonight we didn’t let them back into the game at any stage.
It was as complete a performance that we’ve had at home.
On Gary Madine's performance...
We can’t underestimate Gary’s influence in the team that has been on a terrific run.
The goals just haven’t come for him in previous matches but tonight they have.
He’s got man of the match and the plaudits, so I’m pleased for him.
He’s deserved it. He’s kept plugging away and when we’ve put balls into quality areas, he’s got on the end of them.
On climbing to second in the table…
We’ve got a lot of players that are playing really well at the moment.
When you are winning it’s important to have an edge to your game that makes you aware that if you’re slacking you’ll get punished.
The way we killed the opposition off tonight shows were developing as a side and that’s very important.
On the support from the fans…
It’s good to showcase Bolton Wanderers and tonight we’ve shown what a great club this is.
It was very important to do that and send a message to the rest of the division. The fans need to be shown that their club is alive and kicking.
We want to give the supporters something back and we want to build this squad.
The chairman has been steadfast since day one and he wants to improve this squad and get us back in the Championship.
On Sammy Ameobi…
We obviously want to keep him around, he’s been immense for us.
Sammy needed playing time. He’s developing as a player like the team is. We are pleased with him.
He’s enjoying it here so obviously we’d like to keep him. You learn things when you’re playing games, he’s getting better and is a very likeable lad.
And finally, looking ahead to Wanderers' next match away at Chesterfield…
As much as we want to enjoy that winning feeling tonight, live on TV, we have to keep our feet firmly on the ground and get ready for what is going to be a very tough game against a team fighting for their lives.
If we show the same commitment as we have until the final whistle today then we’ve got a good chance, but nothing less than tonight will be good enough.
